Welcome to Kanan Beach Resort.
Anne and Martin Beslay are living in Provence, the mild province that borders the Mediterranean, and have been experts in hotel management and tourism for the last forty years. They also are sailors and tireless travellers.
In november 2006, they were on the verge of ending their umpteenth journey through India. Their curiosity took them to KANHANGAD. There, they were carried away by the beauty of the place. They lingered a few more days, just enough time to make them realize that one should not discover Kerala by chance. On the contrary, it is a must for any visitor to India.
Back in France, it did not take them long to gather a group of friends together to make them share their unexpected discovery. With the help of photographs and many enthusiastic explanations, they introduced them to this unspoiled, unknown part of India, neglected by holiday brochures and tour operators.
The Kerala.
A region "in brackets", a "cultural exception", a "mislaid pearl", a"caress in a harsh world", almost a "weird region" for the uninitiated traveller who discovers India.
No crowds, no bustle, no noise, no pollution... instead calm, quietness, gentleness, tranquillity prevail. No room for the pressure of overcrowed streets. Instead the slow gliding of boats on back waters, those immense stretches of water which meander in between the golden beaches of the sea of Oman and the first foothills of the Ghats mountains. Instead, the ample gesture of the fisherman casting his nets. Instead, the vivid colours of ricefields and tea plantations, the saris of women alongside small roads, children going to school in their uniforms. A luxurious vegetation in various hues. Immense beaches of golden sand, small local markets.
No bazaar, no souks, no splendid palaces! People go about on foot, ride bicycles or use a boat on the back waters or on the ocean. Mountain trekking, rope bridges over torrents, cascades, or walks in the countryside. Encounters with open-minded, receptive villagers, or just simply the discovery of ARYUVEDA, this medecine of life which restores your mental and body balance.
All this was so convincing that within a few weeks, Anne and Martin Beslay realized a project around a few aims:
Building a haven of peace on a human scale, in harmony with the region, for the lovers of true, eternal India, the India of dreams, is what they wanted. To achieve this goal, they chose an exceptional setting on the coast offering infinite touristic possibilities.
Offering the passionate lover of Indian culture the opportunity to experience the India of tranquillity and serenity, away from the maddening metropolis, thus allowing him/her to establish true links with a welcoming population.
In december 2009, Kankan Beach Resort is ready to welcome you to a comfortable place where an Indian team will lavish on their guests their traditional art of entertaining... with a French touch!
